  1. I attended your workshop at the Primary Conference and wondered if it is possible for me to come and be part of your kindergarten day! I am from Port Alberni and was hoping to come down at the end of February. Thanks! Karen

    1. Hi Karen,

Unfortunately, visits to Nature Kindergarten are reserved for the academic research community and perspective parents. You may want to consider registering for the Royal Roads Cont. Studies “Nature Kindergarten Experience” on April 10th.

      Thanks

  2. Hi,
I missed the information sessions, can I still register my son for the program?

    1. Registration took place the last week of January. At this time, you could add your name to the waitlist. Please contact Sangster Elementary School directly. Thanks

  3. Just wondering if you know of any initiative to start a Nature Kindergarten in Campbell River or area? I’d love to volunteer. Thanks,

    1. I am not aware of any programs in Campbell River, however, it would be best to contact your local School District.

  4. Hi! I am really interested in the Nature Kindergarten program and am curious if the additional grades 1-6 also engage in nature based learning? Wondering because if we decide to put our son into Sangster Nature Kindergarten then will it be a different learning experience once he hits grade 1?
    Thanks!

    1. Thanks for your interest in Nature Kindergarten. There are several classes at Sangster that spend time outdoors and on the Royal Roads property. Three cohorts have completed Nature Kindergarten, and we have not found the transition to Grade 1 to be difficult.

  5. Hi, Moana,

A lot of Kindergarten/primary teachers in Campbell River incorporate Nature Kindergarten and Nature Play into their curriculum. There is no specific Nature Kindergarten program, but if you contact the schools around you in CR and ask if any teachers engage in nature play and exploration, I am positive that you will find a classroom that you can volunteer in.

    Best of luck!

  6. I am an Early Childhood Educator Assistant close to Victoria and would like to educate myself to support nature based learning and play. Do you know of any courses in BC which are offered to ECE Assistant’s.? So far I participated in the “Nature Kindergarden Experience” at Royal Roads and attended “The Wonders of Nature Reasearch Day” at Uvic.

    1. Hello Susi,

You may wish to get information about courses from Forest School Canada (http://www.forestschoolcanada.ca/). Also, Enid Elliot is offering a course (on Saturdays) via Camosun College. This course will hopefully be offered again in the near future.

      Best, Frances

      1. Thank you for the tip. I finished the course in May and will start a small forest school program on the Saanich Peninsula. I heard about you from my German friend Erika from the German school. Maybe one day our paths will cross.
I lived my first 30 years close to Munic and live now in Sidney BC.

Thank you for all the inspiring work you brought to the Island regards getting children outside to learn with and from nature.
