The Sooke School District will begin a Nature Kindergarten program at Saseenos Elementary School in Sooke in September 2017.
Parents who are interested in registering their child for this program, should attend one of the following parent information sessions at Saseenos Elementary School.
Thursday, January 19th 6:30 PM
Saturday, January 21st 10 AM
Parents do not need to register for the information session.
Can the child come to the info session with parent? Thanks.
The parent information sessions are about 1.5 hours in length and are designed for an adult audience.
Excellent news. I am happy to see the support for this program by SD62 and it’s expansion to Sooke. Congratulations to all who have advocated for children learning outdoors.
If I am reading correctly there are 4 information sessions?
Yes, you are correct. There are two sessions at Sangster and two sessions at Saseenos. Please attend a session at the school you are interested in. All sessions will present similar information.
How old do the kids have to be?
The students enrolling for Nature Kindergarten for the 2017/18 school year need to be five by December 2017. This is the same requirement as regular Kindergarten registration.
I found the generic school supply list for Sasseenos Elementary (http://www.sd62.bc.ca/wp-content/uploads/sites/11/2016/08/SchoolSupplies_Saseenos.pdf), but I’m guessing the Nature Kindergarten list is a bit different? Where could I find the Nature Kindergarten list? Thanks!
I’m so happy to find this in Sooke. Outdoor learning is so important and I can’t wait to enroll my little person when she turns 5 in 2020. Looking forward to finding out more info in very near future. Thanks Sasseenos
