  1. Hi,

I am a K/1 teacher for the Campbell River school district. Is it possible that I could attend your planning meetings?

Also, have you discussed safety yet? What safety precautions are you taking (limiting areas, # of adults, bear spray, etc. etc.)?

    Thank you!

    1. Hi Angela,

Thanks for your comment. You are welcome to attend our planning meetings. Dates, times and locations are posted on the blog. We are in the process of working on a risk assessment for the program over the coming months.

  2. Congratualtions on such a critically important initiative. I can only hope your program is successful and adopted by other SD’s throughout the island. If you havent done so already, your planning team may find the documentary with Carl Honore – “The Lost Adventures of Childhood” a useful and inspiring resource. Strcutured environmental education has its place, but unstructured adventure, play and exploration is just as critical to buiding the next strong, creative, adaptable and successful generation that embraces and is connected with nature. Good luck with the program and embrace the “unstructured”.

PS…The BC Recreation and Parks Association may be very interested in this initiative if you have not already connected with them.

    1. Hello Justin,

Thank you for your support and suggestions. We have looked into the possibility of purchasing a copy of the documentary that you mention. I am not familiar with it, so thank you for the recommendation. We will also keep BC Recreation and Parks Association in mind as our project planning continues.
